In a battle of 3A ranked teams, No. 13 Northridge tipped No. 11 Goshen, 2-1 in the NLC boys soccer opener for both teams last Saturday night in the Maple City.
After a scoreless first half, Alexis Moro found the back of the net seven minutes into the second half to give the visiting Raiders the lead. Justin Jimenez assisted on the tally.
Less than a minute later, Hayden Clark knocked in an unassisted goal to pull Goshen even. But seconds after that, Moro took a pass from Bryan Hernandez to put Northridge ahead to stay.
Goshen held the offensive edge in the match, outshooting the Raiders, 16-6 and taking nine corner kicks to just three for the visitors. Northridge keeper Will Martin made 14 saves.
The victory improved Northridge to 3-0-2 on the season. Goshen dropped to 3-1-1.
